bro aquarian, i lost my entire batch of carps due to this! :surprise: it is ich infection!!! u'll be able to see white little spots on the fins/body during the beginning stage, the spots are globules of the parasites. once they hatch, the adult parasites will be released and burrow into the skin of the fish. it is very serious. do a salt treatment or heat treatment immediately! or else within 3 or 4 days, the fish will all be lost!

salt treatment: bring the salt concentration to 5 grams/liter. this will kill off the ich parasites in the water but will not remove the ones on the fishes.

heat treatment: if u have a heater, push the temperature up to about 30 or 31 deg C for about 2 days, then turn it off for about 2 days, and repeat this cycle.

i hope u can successfully control this ich infection, cos until now, i haven't been able to do so. that's why i've stopped rearing fishes... do a google search on "ich infection", u'll find more info on this. i wish u all the best.

hey bro heckel, just my view, cos the symptoms sound like ich infection, and ich infection is one of the most common disease for fishes. to confirm ich infection, you'll have to scrape some of the little white spots off the fish and examine under microscope. but from my (sad) experience with my own carps, bro aquarian's problem most probably is ich infection. of cos i hope it is not.

Edward sorry to hear that.

Properly due to recent daily rain, water was given a higher doses of anti-chlorine and Chloromine.

The next important GOLDEN RULE is after you turn on the water to fill the tank. You must always drip those anti-chlorine and chloromine into the tank. Remember this is the GOLDEN RULE. Just like when you down load any program to your computer, the GOLDEN RULE is to reboot your computer.

This is my opinion and hope this helps.:embarrassed: :ick:

Cool it!
Just hoping to learn from you how you tell ich apart from other diseases. I am not too sure about the problem which bro Aquarian facing right now. But i personally feel it is not ich. More like slime problem to me. And adding in salt is not good enough to solve the problem. Maybe bro Aquarian can post a pic up for us to see and also learn.
It is important to determine the exact problem before giving treatment to our fishes. One wrong move will wipe out our collection if we are not careful.
