Depends on situation, good to have just in case the fish is sick, also weather changes (good for preventing white spot) etc etc....

I place it inside the tank all the time but w/o turning on. I on it when fish sick, less active, white spot etc....:) :)

i turn on only at nite....once around 8am ..i get up and turn it off...:D :o

to me, if fish is normal....no point turn on.....
got white spots then turn on...

I never used heater for my LH even with changes of temperature... I find that they r pretty hardy... anyways, I think the fish tank lights provides the necessary heat needed.

unless got fluctuation in room temperature like on/off air-cond..

if not, singapore wheather don't really need heater

i used it only when fish is sick

i also never on my heater except when the fish is sick

i had a bad experience with heater and FH, once one of them is sick, so i am the heater and went for the weekend to JB, come back the heater spoiled and tripped the power supply, one FH died :(
