My first PDA was Palm Vx, did not last me that long before I sold it off to get my Ipaq 3850 back in 2002, later last year I changed it to my HP rx 3715 which has Wifi and Bluetooth capability, it also has a built-in camera that takes still as well as video.

Beside your usual usage of keeping track of my appointments, contacts, notes and to do list, I thought I would like to share with you other ways of making full use of the PDA.

This is how my Today screen looks like, it is very much like your Desktop of your PC. You can have lots of Today Plugins like mine it shows Chinese date as well, it also give me a better view of my incoming appointments, and it also give me shortcuts to my other programs. Besides that, I also have plugin that show me the current status of my battery power.

The Today screen like your Desktop is fully customised for you to choose the wallpaper you want!!! ;)

You can connect your device to Internet in three ways.

1) You can connect to your PC (with internet connection) through cable or Bluetooth or Wifi.
2) You can connect to other establishment (thru Wifi) like McDonalds that provide free Wifi surfing.
3) You can connect to internet through your GPRS capable handphone.

Once you are connected, you can then surf or sending emails as you wish!!! ;)

Once you are connected to Internet, it also allows you to have internet chat or using it as Skype phone to make free overseas calls !!! ;)

If you are the forgetful type you would be glad to have this software, it stores all your bank account PIN, passwords to website, serial numbers to your equipment, important info for your passport like expiry dates amd even your 'gf' info!!! You only need to remember one password to get in!!!

In our daily lives, it is good to be able to know the exchange rate at our finger tip, (note you can get the updated rate by connecting your PDA to internet) and when you want to know how many acres in one hectere, you can find that out straight away !!! ;)

Nowdays I am spoiled for choice!!!

In my office I can listen to mp3. internet radio thru Rasco Radio or listen to Class 95 FM (without radio) !!!

Of cos I can also watch videos that had been shot using handphone or my PDA. I can also watch video captured by TV card, (see screenshot showing a programme from National Geographic) trailer or movies download from the internet. It is a good tool to keep my children quite even for the 10 to 15 minutes!!! ;)

When my video remote control spoiled I was really mad as I could not programme for it to record anymore as all the fuctions were on the remote. Then I realise Nevo a software on my PDA has a learn function and I found out that my cousin in Penang was using the same player. When I was up in Penang during CNY, manage to borrow his remote and now I can use it on my player !!!

If you are looking for specific calculator that is specific to your needs eg Financial, Engineering , here it is !!! :p

When I was a kid, I use to watch my fren playing the space invaders game in the nearby arcade. I was a thrifty boy so I never spent any money to play it, always watch from the side!!! Now I played it on my PDA !!! Of cos there are heaps of games you can find on the net!!!(some free, some cracked, some u need to pay) ;)

Do you know it can be stressful when you travel?? Yes there are so many things that can happen!!!

1) You can take the wrong bus/train/MRT and end up in a strange place like Harlem in the USA!!! :p
2) Same as 1) but worst you do not know where you are!!!
3) Your taxi driver take you on a joyride and charge you double or triple for the trip.

Where your PDA can help you!! This is the reason why I change to this Bluetooth enable PDA, because when I pair it with my GPS receiver http://www.rikaline.com/bluetooth_gps.htm, I know my exact location, isn't that great??? I use to get terrible lost when I was in KL, losing valuable time and money to get from A to B and not to mention stress me as well as my family. My last trip to KL was a breeze and I drove like a local !!! ;)

There are also other sotwares that give you world time, Metro that gives you information on Metro all around the world - and it is FREE!!!! I have also bus guide on my PDA in case I need it from time to time.

You need CE Star in order to read and write Chinese and it is a shareware.

As for map, I can help you to install, just pm me your contact and I will get in touch with you. If you want real time navigation, you need to buy a GPSr to pair with your PDA.

Curious, is there any different btw a laptop and a PDA?

To start with the Operating System is not the same for laptop and PDA, in PDA the latest OS is Window Mobile 2005. Due to that the software meant for PDA could not be used in laptop and vice versus. The processor speed for PDA currently the fastest one is only 624 MHz (I think) where as laptop from I MHz and above. The PDA storage space is limited so we need to buy memory card like SD card, currenly on the market the highest capacilty is 4G but 8G card will be available soon. Currently the most acceptable card is SD card, older model can use CF card or both CF and SD. Some newer model uses mini SD card which has yet to gain popularity.
