i just want to understand your question better :smile: do you mean the differences in 1) original eheim as without the primer pump, 2) the eheim pro II as with the primer pump, 3) the eheim 2080 pro 3 for example, and 4) the eheim 3e which is the electronic version of the pro 3 correct ??

if that's the case, then basically they are all good canister filters using about the same type of substrates. the priming pump is the main difference as it allows for convenient priming after filter cleaning/maintenance work.

the pro 3 example the 2080 model is a big unit and very good for 5ft, 6ft or bigger tanks.....the large prefilter blue pad prolongs cleaning intervals and even when you need to clean it, there is no need to disturb the media bed trays.

their latest pro 3e is electronic version, although smaller then the 2080 but packs with a bigger punch, as filtering can be controlled electronically.

if i have to decide between canister filters only, i will take the eheim 2080 anytime.

my personal preference is still a good ohf (with very good media + good pump) :big_smile: .

I used a Pro3 for my community tank. The when I got into FH it was difficult to use because it has 2 inlet and 1 return. Very good filter and HUUUUUGE:stick_out_tongue:
