hi all u bros,

i'm using an eheim canister filter for my 40-litre pond. think the flow for the canister filter is 400 litres/hour. is this adequate? as this canister filter is totally closed up, i'm thinking it is impossible for the nitro-fixing bacteria to grow inside, since nitro-fixing bacteria needs oxygen? (& light??). how do i increase the number of nitro-fixing bacteria in my pond? bros, please advise. thanks!

actually have seen many pond most use the overflow system and since pond have bigger surface area then the deep of the pond so the nitrate level should be lower then in tank:geeked:
just my view:smile:

thanks for your view, bro meng. mine is indoor pond (it's actually a water feature) at one small corner of my living room, so an overflow system may be a bit too big and unsightly. well, at least the overflow systems i've seen are huge! are there any small overflow systems? where to get?

so u mean nitrate level in a pond may be lower than a tank cos of bigger surface area-depth ratio? :surprise: do u have any suggestions what kind of filtration system is suitable? is my current canister filter sufficient? i'm changing about 20% water every 2 or 3 days now, i'm still cycling the pond.
