Just wanna check with expert here how can i prevent my BP from kana whote spot???

my BP currently kana white spot and am treating them now...they were basically not active at all and not swimming, just stay at the bottle of the tank.

I believer after they are treated, prevention is better than cure...can anyone share with me??

thanks in advance.

Warmest welcome bro frogmantanch.

base on your description, the BPs are sick, thus not swiming well nor eating well.

To provide preventive measures on curing, try out the following and observe the BPs..

- raise temp to 30C,
- add moderate amount of salt and or white spot medication,
- do water change after 3 days and repeat cycle for 7 days til they are cured,

Other factors to take note are, check your filter medias as they might pose dangers to pollute white spot disease again upon 7 days of curing.

U may wish to wash up the filter medias and or sun it to kill off all bad bacteriors.

Wishing your BPs a speedy recovery.

I have few question...on your suggestion
1. How to raise the water temp to 30C?
2. Currently giving white spot medication, but how much salt is consider moderate?...i do add in salt and anti-chorine.
3. OK...i will change the water more frequent and wash the filer sponge.

1. How to raise the water temp to 30C?
use a heater, u can get it at any LFS. Use 50Watts for 2ft tanks, 100Watts for 3ft tanks.
2. Currently giving white spot medication, but how much salt is consider moderate?...i do add in salt and anti-chorine.
Depends on the tank size. U guage by the amount of fresh water in the eg 2ft tank by using an estimated 5 spoons full of salt.
3. OK...i will change the water more frequent and wash the filer sponge.

pls see replies in red.

yes, likely to take few more days to cure. Raising the temp to 30C will speed up recovery.

apply according to medication instructions.

If it says once per day. then its better to follow it.

I try not to apply too much medication. Not good for the fishes. Over dosage will kill.

It takes time for the fishes to heal. Thus, its a learning experience to take care of the water well for the fishes.
