Just sharing some pointers that i have since Aquarama is around the corner...

:)

This is our method of grooming our bettas prior to competitions. It may not be the best way, but at least for us, this is one proven method to improve the form and aggressiveness of your betta.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Try asking yourself this question:"Why do you keep bettas as your hobby?"
Some answers would be:
1. "I love their bright colours!"
2. "I love their aggressiveness!"
3. "I love to see them grow from young to adulthood!"
4. "I would like to groom them and send them for competitions!"
I will touch on the last point: Sending your bettas for competitions.
The first thing that comes to your mind will be: How do i know if my fish is a 'show grade'? The easy way out is to get a seasoned hobbyist to check out your betta and give you his/her opinions.
If there's no one for you to look up to, feel free to contact BroBettaSG, we will feel honoured to help out in a way or two. We do have a Certified IBC Judge to give you the necessary advice.
Grooming your fish for competitions
Not all Breeders/Competitors will disclose methods of grooming competition bettas as it is common for us(Singaporeans) to be 'Kia-Su"! We, at BroBettaSG will be sharing with everyone what we do prior to a competition.
What you can do 8 weeks prior to the competition is as follows:
-- Find a young fish with potential.
-- House the fish in a 1ft tank.
-- For the first 1-3 weeks, feed the fish as per your normal routine.*
-- 3 week onwards, before feeding the fish, use a chopstick to gently stir the water.
-- If possible, 1 week before the competition, feed the fish with "live" bloodworms.
-- ALWAYS bring your own aged water to the comp site. this will allow fish to climatise faster.
**You may find the above way of grooming fishes wrong, do feel free to contact us and share with us your methods! Also feel free to contact us if you have any doubt with the above method.
Also try to make the entire tank dark i.e. cover up with newspaper.
*50% water change at around 2-3 days interval.
Remember to use AGED water!
