Hi,
I am keeping 1 WC 4-5' inch mblue frontosa together with farm breed of 4 burundi and 1 moba each 2-3' inch each.

My problem now is, the WC mblue is in my tank for about aweek, its have been hiding and shifting sand the whole day without taking any food.
And my rest of my frontosa are eating well, pH 8.4 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 ammonia 0.

I feeding them with NLS pellet and did try floating pellet but the WC species just wont eat. BS, BW and MS with garlic also shown negative result.

Any bro here can advise?
Do frontosa need lots of current?
I am using a ehiem canister filter.

Notice the tails behind the tank. The mblue is hiding over there.
There is 2 hiding spots for him, wondering why still so shy.

Guess it is just new to the environment. For frontosa, best is not to feed them with any floating food. Once they contact with the air while taking the food, later on you will have problem. For front., you not necessary to install any strong current pump, as long as your filteration system managed to filter away the waste, than it is more than sufficient. Lastly, be more patient and eventually, the WC once it adapt to the environment, it will come out and hunt for food. Cheers!

Thanks alot for your advise.
Was thinking stop the feeding for about 3-4 days then test it out again and see if he eats the food.

yes, they need time to adpat. The majority mature fast but 1 of them rather shy and do other things...:D

give it more time, bro.:D

any wild caught fish will take longer time to adapt, patience is the key, avoid floating food, less current

4 days ago just remove the power head so basically just using the ehiem canister filter 2226.
Yesterday was a great day for me. My mblue just swim out to have his dinner during feeding time. Hungry like a pig.
So today fed him again. Constantly eating for 2 days already pellet and MS both alright for him. :D

Yes avoid floating food. he would dash up for food afraid he might jump out of my tank.

Thank all the bro here from giving me positive feedback. As this was my first thread here.

when u see stripes means the fish is stress and not stable yet. If u see the fish colour is balance means he is happy and adapt to environment.

Hope u r getting on well and happy with the fish keeping.:)

this is becos they are still not stable yet, sometimes they will be like this when they are threatened by other fish

i have kep zaire blue, kigoma, burundi before, they are nocturnal meaning they hunt at night, if u ever feed them prawn or small feeder, u will notice that the numbers will reduced significantly overnite. In the wild they will hunt at nite, lots of smaller fishes will rest at the bottom of the lake and they just need to open their mouth and scoop them up. Frontosa is consider not a very fast swimmer so in the day time they will be less likely to catch up with their prey.

You can read uo more on the fish here http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/frontosa_corner.php
