Did not attend bec of other commitments.
Anybody here attended? Will appreciate some info on how this went.:guessing:
It sh be well organised bec of people involved but on judging ... pray they are not unfairly biased towards 'old birds' in the hobby especially in the award of top prize otherwise the whole event bec a farce for the benefit of these few people.:dump:

to be fair, the judges are almost the same as those that judged the fish hub comp 2 weeks back, surely u are not implying that they are "unfair".:grin smile:

To be fair, I think only one of the judge is the same for the butterfly and open class. I have seen the grand champion and it is a beautiful fish and have very nice form but I feel that it is not well groom. The colour is not brilliant enough and the tail has collapse a little. Anyway those with better colour do not have the form of the grand champion.

It is bec of the last Fish-Hub contest that I now have this apprehension.:oh sad:
The point I am making here is:
If we are all paying to attend a 12-course Chinese dinner ... the best dish sh not be reserved only for an 'old bird'/his cronies to eat!
For the sake of better & greater interest to the GF hobby in S'pore ... Stop this nonsense!

First just a feedback for the organisers. They did a good job in organising both events at East Mall and at Dawson. There are rooms for improvement. First, the security at both malls are not well planned. At East Mall, children get so close to the tanks, and some slammed the tanks with their hands. At dawson, viewers could easily dip their hands in the tubs especially children. Secondly, the two events could combine into one day so that the organisers, partipants, judges need not come two times. Most of the judges are local, it would be better if there are foreign judges around. As most GF lovers in singapore knows that we have different views about GF, some likes certain breed of fishes while others do not. Ther are some fish that are better from Japan did not win. :oh sad: It is not that the fish are no good, just that those fishes might not be up to the taste of the local judges. The last two comp organised by Fynmood has foreign judges, with the chief judge (for TVR cat) from Indo. Hope that the organiser can gather this feedback and improve next year. Cheers. Contragulations to those winners.:grin smile:

now u are implying i am talking nonsense and the judges are still biased.
i gathered that foreign judge is professional, more neutral and not biased.
i rest my case and remain my silence as usual on the sideline:cut it off:

Thank you for all the feed-back.
On the issue of combining the two competition, if you have noticed that the first competition held at Mainland includes the top view competition. Due to the space constrain at East Point Mall and also the Children Art Competition held in conjunction with the event, the organizer felt that it is better to let another organization take on the top view section of the competition. Between the side view and top view, the side view competition is much more difficult to organize and run.
On the judging issue, you can never satisfy everyone all the time. Different set of judges will yield different result. Unless we can afford "qualified neutral judges" whatever the outcome, there will always be unhappiness.
On the issue of "qualified neutral judges", who are they?
Coming to fishlovecps comments regarding the security. How do you propose to overcome this problem? Who is going to pay for the extra security?
On the issue of foreign judge, are you planning to pay for the expenses of flying in and looking after these foreign judge
To say that better fish from Japan did not win is unfair as the judges would not have known which fish is from Japan or Thailand. Why must a Japanese fish be better that from another country by virtue of its birth place?
I believe that both Fish-Hub and RafflesGold will be delighted if you can arrange for some sponsorship of these foreign judges. To this we want to thank you in advance for your readiness to help us get sponsorship.

Thanks for your feed-back. I think the people behind the two events would have read your post and your comments noted.
I have only one issue to make and that is you probably have no idea how much it cost to bring a Judge from "overseas". Why not you help Fish-Hub run their next competition and you will know what it costs to run such events. The collection of the entry fees is not even a quarter of the entire event expenses.
Why not check with Fynnmood how they got that Indon Chief Judge and what it cost them to bring him here? Ask them how did they got that Chief Judge in the first place and who underwrites his expenses. Many things are very easily said than done.
I understand from someone that it cost around S$5k to S$8k to bring in a reputable Japanese TVR judge and that the only time they will ever to be able to afford the time is in late December to January. Unless of course if he or all of them happens to be coming to Singapore for a holiday and offer his service FOC.
Hope you will understand that many people behind the two events are hurt by your comments.

To help break this 'stranglehold' by some 'old birds' that is killing interest in the GF hobby in S'pore over the years u can certainly count on me to support whatever new measures to make GF competitions much much fairer and better henceforth.

New measures sh not resort to recruiting 'foreign talents' entirely as judges.
Don't we have enough of 'foreign talents'?
Don't we thrust our own kind anymore even in as simple a task as judging GF competitions?
All we need to do is to rein-in the negative influences of the 'old birds' and shame them and the judges will perform accordingly as everyone sh take pride in one's work and responsibility when not pressured by these culprits.

This is just a suggestion, it may or may not work. To overcome the security issue, need not hire security guards as it may involve alot of money. A simple barriacade may do the job if the building management agreed to loan them to U. At eastmall, I personally have stop children from hitting the tank.
As for the Judge, maybe I did not make myself very clear enough. I am not asking the hub to hire foreign talents, as it is very expensive and often reluntant to come. We have alot of local talent (hidden, yet to be dig out for TVR). What I am saying is that can consider having a panel of Judges from our local industry, maybe a combination of local talents such one from GF club, one from hobbies and one from the commercial. The chief judge could be from one of our reputatable club. This can be build upon as the foundation as time to come. This is only a suggestion. The structure of the judges for SVR is very good. Fish hub may wish to keep this structure for the next comp.
Lastly to end, I am not out to offend anyone or club. For those who feel that I have offended you, I offer my apology. What I observed at Eastmall and for the sake of our precious fish, I need to let the organisor know.:embarassment:

Fair or unfair, who's to decide?
Children tap & knock the tank, adult won't?
Foreign judges what taste? Local judges what taste?
Foreign judges more pro, neutral & impartial. Sure?
Guys, by the way this thread complaint for things to change or comment for improvement. You decide yourself.

Whatever it is, both competitions are over and I hope that anyone who wants to see improvements or change in future competitions should come forward and volunteer their services. It is always the same old people running up and down, left right and center and many people just standing around and jeering and making lots of noises.
Step forward and be counted.

Whichever way u look at it but one thing for sure .... seriously if there's another attempt to use his 'tentacles' to influence the outcome of future GF competitions now many have 'awakened' and eyes wide-opened.
