This Thread is meant as a tribute to my beloved “Fatty Weng” who passed on 7 days after I got him back from Aquarama 2009. The most likely cause is probably due to the cold temperature that the Competition hall. Tikus has been traditionally raised in Ipoh, Malaysia with shallow pond and exposed directly to the sun. When you put your hand into a Tikus pond during the mid-day, you feel that the water is boiling. This is the third Tikus that won at various Competition which includes Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Every time the Tikus did not make it after the competition. One of them even die in the competition tank.
When “Fatty Weng” was raised in my home. He never seems to stop swimming and is active all the time even during the night. However during the Aquarama Competition, he hardly swims. When I brought him home, he stops swimming and began to lie on his side till he passed on.
I am hoping that at the next competition, the organizer will allow me to put a heater in the tank.
I bought “Fatty Weng” at Seaview some time in early August 2008 for S$1.40. The photos shows him after the one month quarantine.
