Hi guys!
couple of locations you can find up north...
1) Upper Seletar reservoir (or is it lower????) the one with the jetty for fishing.
2) Seletar Dam , right at the end on the Sea side.
But again... if you go to QH...it everywhere on the floor. Just tell the uncle there that you will sweep the floor for him.

I'm sure after picking up the leave, before placing inside the tank, we have to do some preparation job. For me, ususally i will wash it, after that placed inside a pot and boil it. After about 1/2 hour, you can see the water start to change to brownish water, then i will leave it to cool down. Then keep inside the bottle and i'm now have ready black water :) Anymore idea to share???

Can I just throw the whole leaves into the tank?YOu can soak it inside the tank, however, you better put it together with a bag, orelse later u got a problem to scope them up. Usually, you soak 2-3 days can remove out the leave liao.

use the materials like the nets to make a bag, put the leaves insides and throw inside my IOS compartment :)

use the materials like the nets to make a bag, put the leaves insides and throw inside my IOS compartment :)Ya, you can, usually i buy those washing bag (small) $1/- plus, put the leave inside, attached with a string and tie it somewhere whereby i can retrieve it back subsquently. But now i dont do that anymore, i prepared them in bottle :)
Theo9902
04-08-2006, 03:06 PM
so prepare them in the liquid form is more effective is it?

so prepare them in the liquid form is more effective is it?Up to individual. In fact prepared them in liquid form, to me boiling them to kill those unseen germ more safer for the fishes. If you put the leave direct into the tank, you wont know whether thye used any chemical to spary at the tree, so by rinsing them is not sufficicent to clear them away, so the most safer way is to boil them, throw away the 1st round of water, then re-boil it again. Then the water can be kept as liquid form, the leave can put inside the tank ;) Is troublesome, but what to do??????
Aquarian
04-08-2006, 05:32 PM
u can take a few leaves and tied them using rubber band, but do not leave the leaves in the tank any longer than 1 week as the leave may start to rot by then
Can I just throw the whole leaves into the tank?

Over the holidays, i managed to find time to make for my fishes some ketapang soup.
I use a big metal container, put in about 50 leaves and boil for 1 hour using low heat. Results were fantastic. I put in a very light dose of the black soup into my discus tank, i can see the discus became more calm and also the eyes more red. Those tanks that i put in more heavy dose, the results are not as good.

All KTP leaves should be totally dried to avoid the leaves rotting inside your tanks and increasing the ammonia level.
