These 2 orandas are from the same brood, same parents, same age and hatched almost the same time.

The small fella(A) used to be the biggest of the lot and the bigger one(B) is just one of those that I intended to keep for breeding and competition. Both A and B are 9 months old. The difference is destiny.

A has the unfortunate fate, maybe fortunate as the really unfortunate ones were destined for the sewer. A was fated to be relegated to the sump tank and B given the best of care. A on the other hand was never given any food as I believe that no food would have escaped into the sump and A has relied fully on the wall algae at the sides of the sump wall to survive.

After some time, I managed to retrieve A from the sump as the current in the sump is very rapid. It took me a good 5 minutes to catch A.

What I am trying to show is the 3/3 rule. Even though A was initially endowed with the best of physique and B not so well endowed but B has manage to outgrow A by a massive margin. BTW B is 17 cm long from mouth to tail tip.

The shape of its body, finnage and wen differ so drastically.

What you do to your fry at an early stage will determine its destiny.
