How do you classify as nice discus, body shape or pattern?
To me, body shape. If a fish with normal pattern, but round body shape, far more nicer than a nice pattern with "egg" shape discus. The flaw which i could not accept, is discus with "luohan head".
No right or wrong, just personal preference for discussion. This thread serve as guideline for some one for choosing a discus.

lets give a new scenerio, you are in a discus shop...... you have to choose between fish A or B....Assuming both fish cost the same price ...i.e. $250 . The fishes are in different tank and the shop boss never said if both fish are from the same lineage.
Fish A
size : 6" (14 bar LSS)
colour : fully fine spotted fish to the gills.
body shape : slightly longish (oval shape)
eye : red
Fish B (14 bar LSS)
Size : 6"
colour : half striation with spotting inconsistent, and large.
body shape : round to slightly high body and fin.
eye : red
Pls make your purchase now!!!!!

Can you Illustrate with pics? Is hard to imagine ourself like that. And I think, should not state a price. Price is a senstitive issue.

Hmmm... That depends on my purpose of purchasing that pcs...
If its for visual enjoyment, I would buy Fish B...
else if its for breeding purpose, Fish A would be my choice...
Hehehe...

If i am paying a premium price for a discus i would want it to be of good shape and pattern too. If not i rather not buy.
But if you are talking abt breeding stock then cannot expect much.
Just my 2 cents worth of thoughts, do correct me if i am wrong.

To help u make decision, choose betwen this two 9 bars or 14 bars in term of body shape and pattern.
9 bars, spots not as nice as 14 bars. But 14 bars longish body shape with a small hump on the head. You choose one here (Cannot bring back home :stick_out_tongue: )
** Mai hump, mai hump, mai hump....laksa mai hump **

guys,
Another thought....
lets take it as the latest "fashion" , new strain of discus. E.g an Albino LSS. Meaning, the shape of the fish is not nice yet. So how? Go for the spotting or the shape?

Assume that I have the budget, my answer is "No".
Body shape is important to me, I rather wait for the improved version. After all, I am not in the hurry to get the fish. And I am not going to improve it either. So I rather some one do the improvement.
