I have three different brands of heater (Rena, Jager and Tetra) and I found that the thermostat are not pretty accurate based on my cheap $2 thermometer
Anyone had any comment on this? Have you done any 'calibration' to find out about the accuracy of the heater you use?

not calibrate as per say
let say u set the thermostat at 25 deg, but the water continue to heat up to 30 deg, then u know the margin of error. I found that my Rena and Jager temp set lower but end up heats up the water by quite a considerable margin

I calibrated my Jager. I used my AquaSensor, 1 rubbing pad with therometer, 1 cheap ($7) digi therometer to check my tank water; result were almost 28C so I used it as bench mark for calibration. Duno why the heater trigger 2 degree higer than its marking, no QC? Never trust the marking although it claims that +- 0.?%. Do your own calibration.
For Jager, pull the turning knob out, turn the reading mark to 28C (in my case), push the knob back. Do final verification, set heater sensor 1 degree higher than water, it should starts immediately. Check water temperature when led goes off. Result is accurate on Jager, Rena I don't know.

out of the three i find that Jager is the most accurate, Rena and Tetra heats up my water more than the thermostat, eg, i set the Tetra at 26 deg and the water heats up to 30 deg. Now I set it to 22 deg only , when it was on 23 deg, it heats up to 28 deg.
I suggest you guys do check on it and do not just blindly depend on the thermostat

I calibrate my Jaeger heater regularly. It always sets the temp lower. Will use digital thermometer to measure the temp then calibrate. After that Jaeger is quite accurate.

u mean there is a feature to adjust the temperature in the thermostat??? How is that done?

Yes, bro Aquarian, Jaeger has a feature to calibrate temp. Same as bro El993 write up : There is a blue knob that you have to pull it out. Then you adjust the pointer to the correct water temperature which you have measured with normal or digital thermometer. I use digital for better accuracy. After that you push back the blue knob. Then you adjust the pointer again to your preferred temp, say 28 dgr. I did not set the pointer (heater sensor) 1 dgr higher than the preferred temperature, like bro El993 did, because normally by WC I already use warm water which temp is already about 28 dgr.

Yes, at least for Jagar. For other brand I don't know how to and that's why I purchased Jagar.
From the website and also information from LFS, this heater is very accurate which requires NO calibration at all but it has the feature for user to fine tune. When I tested, and soon realised it stops(off) at almost 31degree while the marking set to 29C, therefore it was 2 degree higher than factory preset. Sorry to see such renowned brand goes haywired, may be my 3 digital thero all give wrong reading.
Don't trust default setting, measure by your own hand will be safer.
