Erm after doing 100% water change without putting ktp leaves, water still abit cloudy, I suppose is because of bacteria issue again, nvm Sun I do a 50% water change and see how.

I always whack 100% WC, but recently busy with my 5ft, just suck up the waste together with 70% water and top with new water. WC every 3-4 days

Since it is about 100% water change then I would like to ask this, when using medication do we do normal water change (e.g 30% or 50%) or do we do a 100% water change?

Normally for me when you are treating a sicked fish with medication, the next water change I will do a 100% water change as the residue left behind are not so good for the sicked fish. I would rather change to aged water 100% and carry on with new medication

Fishes are cold blooded animals, which means that their body functions are dependent on water that surrounds them.
Any rapid changes in envoirnment always stresses them, because a lot of their body energy goes in adjusting to new changes conditions. This energy drain leaves them open to infections & parasite problems.
Any rapid change, whether it is rapid temp change, ph change, water change is never appropiate for any fish.
Is you want to change water , do a 40% water change every day, this will give the fish time to adjust to changing water quality.

I agreed with your views on rapid changes in the water parameters. But 40% water change is not advisable in my personal opinon, because the betta got to due with the change in water parameters everyday. This is somehow contradicting to your initial comments.

What I mean to say is that a 100% water change on a single day might not be adviceable, if one has to large water changes it is better to change 40-50% water change everday for 2-3 days instead of doing a 100% on a single day.
On a regular course a 20-25% water change every week should be enough, which will of course depend upon the size of tank & bioload.

In keeping bettas it is different from keeping goldfishes, normally for us betta hobbyist we will only do water changes after 3-4 days not water change everyday. Depending on the water quality we will change accordingly. As there is no filtration system required, we will used aged water. The temperature, PH value, hardness and water parameters are different as well.

Thanks for showing pictures of your goldfishes. If you are in Singapore, I would had given you a pair of bettas as a gesture of friendship. You will be suprised at the beauty of bettas. Easy to maintain, need only a small tank, no filtration required and a very hardy fish as well! cheers!

you must first monitor the behavior of your fish. how the diet? the movement?and isit still flaring. i will just leave it as it is and monitor them every day. betta is very funny. sometime water too clean oso get sick:super angry:
