hey there, thanks...

at the moment i breed as a hobby - once i've established a couple of good strains i will sell - there is a lack of GOOD show guppies available in South Africa and i am hoping to change that.

Brother guppyfan,

I am impressed with the pictures of your guppies....beautiful pieces. BTW can you share with us the different types of guppies for the benefit of brother like me who know nothing about guppies? I understand that there are saltwater guppy and the freshwater guppy. Is that true? The saltwater guppy got nicer colours?

Hello guppyfan,

I'll certainly try my best to input any guppy news around our side(singapore) to share all about guppy which we hope will be benificial to all.

There r guppy hobbyists around, we need some time for them to join our forum.

Hi there Megabetta.

I have not seen or heard of Saltwater Guppies, but i do know that guppies can live in salt water ... they don't do very well though...

REMEMBER: Guppies can live in a WIDE range of water conditions - AS LONG AS THE CONDITIONS DON'T CHANGE SUDDENLY... Like Mollies, they can live in MARINE conditions, IF they are acclimated SLOWLY. The Guppies from Trinidad, Tobago, live in salt water in the wild, but they are BORN to salt water... so if you want to have Guppies in a marine setup, get them from VERY YOUNG age and acclimate them slowly - SUDDEN changes in water conditions WILL CAUSE DISEASE AND ULTIMATELY DEATH.

MEGABETTA: thank you for the QUESTION about SALTWATER Guppies, YOU have made me think about a different line to RESEARCH as far as Guppies are concerned. :hmmm:

I am busy writing an aricle on the different STRAINS and TAIL SHAPES of guppies - i will let you know when it's done... OK?
