View Full Version : Hole in the scale
I saw one arowana with big hole on the scale. Approximately 5mm diameter and about 0.5mm depth. I am not sure what is this but the owner says it started small and while the arowana grow the bigger the hole gets. I have operated on the fish since it has a gill curl and I have remove the scale affected.
When the arowana already swimming after the operation, I noticed that the other scale also affected. Do I need to transmore the fish again and remove all those scales that are affected?

Bro if it is serious.... you better remove the other side as well.... If salt and Melafix dun do their job... you should go ahead with the ops.... It should be quite easy to remove the scale. Please check after you remove the scale, does the aro body show any deformities. But It is best to give the aro another 48 hours before you transform the aro again cos if you do back to back ops, the aro might not be able to take the shock well.
I am currently monitoring the fish. Yes, I will not subject the fish on transmore maybe for another week. The gills recovering but i believe it will curl again since the hard part of the gills already curled:crying: so no matter how i file it it will be still curl unless i cut the hard part as well....haiz do not know what to do with it.

Just a small advise bro, the hard gill cover if cut, very hard to grow back.... Even if i has grow back might not be prefect. Perform your ops 2 weeks later if necessary :)
Thanks bro. I know if hard gill is cut, it will never grow back again especially for the case of adult arowana. The possibility of growing back maybe applicable to young arowana but I do agree that it will be very slow and definitely will not grow back to its original form.
