if u are worried if they are diificult start off wif adults.
i started wif juve last year but they all didn't make it.
i made a mistake by mixing them wif my other juve.
these albinos are weaker and hv weaker eyesight,
so they always lose out when comes feeding time.
best is to keep all albino juve in one tank, no mixing.
my only 2 albinos were just bght last week,
bght them as a pair and they spawned yesterday.
small batch of eggs. :hmmm:

If you want go into albino juvs, would encourage u to keep them all in one tank together and do not mix with other black eyed discus.
Like what Richard mentioned, their growth will be dampen.
Other than that, they are considered quite ok fish to keep.

My experience, they are tough fish. Just that they have poorer eyesight and can easily overcome to feed more and distribute foods around the tank.
I mixed 4 albinos with 8 red melon and they grow up nicely. Bought them together ard 2".

Albinos are relativly easy to keep.
They need the same amt of care like any other type of discus. But i do agree that we should just have albinos in a particular tanks and not mix them.
Though i have success when mixing them with normal discus with adult specimens, i do not encourage mixing albinos juv with juv of other strains.

Can mix with other black eye fishes like oscar.... but have to distribute the food in smaller pieces all over the tank and preferably have a bit more excess.
Like what Trident said, albinos tend to have poorer eye sight and will take longer time to eat.
I have seen oscar's melons and albinos all growing nicely together.

I would agree with this. But hor my golden albino seems to have superb eyesight leh. Always the first to chiong for food.

Maybe its because of your overhead lighting. Let your albinos wear sunglasses or you can alway turn off the lights to see the difference.

Maybe becos th bottom dun have oyama then reflective. I have a tank with bare bottom. Even those normal discus also 'shoot bird'.

no lah...owner shoot bird....fish also shoot bird.
I think you maybe right about the bottom without any oyama for oscar.

Yup. Cos after i collected the tanks and start using them i realise that the fishes all a bit shoot bird. But that never happen previously when i used tanks with oyama on the bottom.

Hi bro Trident. How's the fries? Post some pic to share if any.
I bought my first batch of 2" 6 pieces Albino together with some Golden Melon 2" 6 pieces, I mixed them in a 3 feets tank. So far OK and no issue. They eat equally well. I also realized that those Albino eat as much or even more than the rest but they do not grow as fast as the rest of the Melon. So I guess it is because of the gene. :embarrassed: :ick:
