Congrats on your new entry of hobby.

Basically there r two types of parrot fish, namely blood parrot and king kong parrot. However, as you mentioned yours is blood parrot. They r rather hardy fishes and its best to place more in a community tank, say at least 5 pcs.

They live on blood worms, pellets, live prawns(small feeder type) and cut pcs of market prawns.

Do water change weekly, depandant on your feeding routine.

how about sharing few pictures of your blood parrot. we can then see if they r blood parrot or king kong parrot. And we can all try to identify if its red, or orange, or red orange colour...:surprise:

Parrots are one of the easiest fishes to keep IMO, not fussy with anything.

basic information

parrots are indeed an easy going cichlid family,a few points here, and you are ready to go......!

TANK SIZE
1.) if you've always wanted to keep parrots, and you're first going to need a tank. The most common size tank suggested (36"x18"x18").are ideal, as they really DON'T take up much SPACE. And the number of parrots 4 to 8 max.

GROWTH RATE
2.)this fish is abt 2" long, why do I need such a tank size. Well, the reason is with proper care and feeding a healthy parrot will grow at least an inch a month or so,So yes, you're going to need that tank because a 5" to 6" fish is only 7 months away! They will slow down a bit in growth after they mature. if you have 8 pcs swimming in that tank,wow.........!

FEEDING
3.) i dont feed my parrots with live feeder unless you are ...?live feeder are a great way to give your parrrot a parasite.... Feed them a good brand of pallet or Bloodworm. Don't be concerned with the fact that they are not happy.......

FILTRATION/WATER CHANGES
4.) have a good filration, which can help you go less on water change, for me i only top up or change 20% of water weekly.........look
parrot eat n shit alot,so its always good to keep a look-out.

WATER CONDITIONS
5.) Parrot are very adaptive and can live in a wide range of kh,softness and hardness.but i only keep my ph to 6.5,Kh not for me,its will helps to keep its redness together, anyway it still boil down to what kinds of parrot you own.A 28 degrees temp.

DISEASES
6.) most common sickness that affects parrot ,white spots To treat it simply set your hearter to 30 degrees, add salt and methylene blue, that will do the job.in 3 days time your parrot will be back in action....

Good luck with your parrots(s), I hope you have your a great time - for a long (up to 6 years)!

enjoy your hobby!

Thanks everybody.
It is a single parrot, they are pretty expensive in our country.
It is in a 36x18x18 tanks with 8 angelfish(medium size), will this combination be compatible in long run.
It is planted with vals & e. tenneleus, it has a power filter. I have a picture before putting the parrot.

of couse they do! great diggers!

I might have to return this fish:crying:
Not only is she running after all my angels, but has dug great holes in my carefully planted aquarium.
Maybe I will have one, when I get a dedicated tank for them.

BP is one of the very aggressive type....... they even attack those fish that are bigger than them.
